The bazaar will feature the following:

  • Resource Fair: We will host a technology resource fair featuring local and national for-profit and non-profit technology firms and start-ups. This presents a great opportunity for these groups to (a) showcase their expertise, services, and products as well as (b) network with each other and those in attendance.
  • Game Jam: Philosophy graduate student, Zach Garrett will host a game jam. The game jam will center on the creation of games that help teach ethics generally or ethical issues related to the responsible design, use, etc. of technology.
  • Outreach Programs: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) strives to offer educational programs to those who live and work in Nebraska. Some programs involve developing an understanding of technology and entrepreneurship for high school students. Other programs focus specifically on raising awareness about engineering technologies like those developed for transportation. These programs will showcase their work and offer opportunities for audience participation.
  • Teaching Seminar: The American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT) will host a seminar on how to design meaningful educational experiences in the philosophy classroom. Learn more on the AAPT website: https://philosophyteachers.org/teaching-learning-seminars-workshops/

The Kutak Center for the Teaching and Study of Applied Ethics and Broader Considerations of Technology sincerely welcome paper proposals for the inaugural Ethics and Broader Considerations of Philosophy Bazaar.
